Genesis 1 & 2

Watched a show on the History Channel lat night about Genesis in the Bible. It mostly covered chapters 1 and 2. Why is it that the stuff I write about seems to covered on TV, but doesn’t really get any response in here? Do not any of you out there watch these kind of shows on the History Channel? If the subject of religion is good enough to be questionedon TV, why not here? Oh well, to the subject at hand.

The biggest thing about last nights was why are chapter 1 and 2 telling a different story about the time line of creation? And why is it that people who believe the story do not have a problem with the two different stories? Can’t say I heard a good answer from the people who gave their ideas about it. So was man made on the 6th day after all the rest was done, or were all the things alive made after Adam was made? The Bible says both happened, but which is it? It has to be one way or the other. And just when was Eve created? Also on the 6th day with Adam or later as an after thought? Why create male and female animals but not a female human? Wouldn’t Adam have gotten horny watching all the animals mating and him with the equipment to mate but no female to mate with? No wonder he got lonely.

The idea was put forth that Eve was the second human female made. Seeing how god created male and female humans at the same time in chapter 1 and her name was Lilith. I love the way people always try to make things up to fit the need for things to make sense. But I do not understand how when face with truth, people still refuse to change their minds. When faced with contradictions that cancel each other out, how can one still believe in the story of creation as presented in the Bible? If god gave us brains to use, why not use them? Is it so hard to believe that the Bible creation story is really any different than any other creation story from the old days of mankind? One has got to remember when all of these stories were made, so far in the past when man had no idea as to what was happening in the world he lived in. To keep believing in a story that has the world and life on it only being some 6,000 years old, come on, get real. To believe that the creatures that live on the earth today were the creatures god made at the creation and deny all of the proof of the past life we have found, really is beyond my comprehension as a human being.

Gangs

Just how stupid does one have to be to join a gang? Why in the world would one want to be a part of something that most likely will get you killed? Just how small do you have to feel to need a gang to make you feel like a big shot? And just how big are you really if you are just another member of some gang? Is killing someone the thing that makes you a man? Seems like it is more manly to not join a gang in this day and age. If having guts is what it is all about, it takes guts to say no to peer pressure. It takes guts to tell bullies to go to hell. Black, brown, white, green or orange, I don’t care what color ones skin is, we are all just human beings, no one better than the rest. Being in a gang does not and will not make someone a better person. To me it just shows how small a mind a gang member has. What ever happened to the freedom of choice we are supposed to have in this country, if the neighborhood gang makes you join? I have always found it ironic that the bullies of this world are the ones who have the most insecurities about who they are. I have always hated the saying “if you can’t beat them, join them”, what a sad way to feel. It seems to be the way of the world when it comes to gangs these days. I would like to know what happened to the pride of being an individual, it was one of the things that made this country what it is today, or can I say that anymore? Once I felt I could, but it has been many years since I felt that way. The only individuals who seem to be making a name for themselves these days are crooked politicians. I just hope our new president doesn’t get caught doing some thing wrong, but he is a politician and most of them seem to be crooked and out to get what they can from the American public. Politicians almost are a gang unto themselves it seems.

The news

I do not watch the news or read newspapers. There is never really anything new to hear or find out. So and so killed someone, a bomb went off some where again, some movie star did some thing and so on and so on. Got bored with it all some 40 years ago, don’t think I have really missed much in all that time. I manage to know about the really big stuff that happens. Big stuff, just what is that I wonder some times, M J dying was not really big stuff to me. Getting a black president was really big stuff. 911 was the biggest stuff. The history of the news is mostly just a repeat of what happened yesterday. Another corrupt politician found, gee what a surprise! Some big news would be that the governments tell us about aliens they have been hiding for the last 60 odd years. And that is all I have to say about it.

Michael Jackson

Ok, I guess I need to blog about what is important to everyday people. No one seems really interested in god ideas unless they are praising ones. Who really cares that Michael Jackson is dead, aside from his family, I don’t. I didn’t care for him anyway. Born a black male child, died an almost white woman. It is my belief that he killed himself knowing he could not really make a come back. I do not understand why he and all of the big stars hold such interest for us in what they do in their daily lives. They are just people like the rest of us. In my time living in Los Angeles county as a young man, I met many stars and they wanted to be treated as regular folks, at least the ones I met did. And that is how I treated them and we got along just fine. Are the lives of most people so drab that they must try to live through the lives of others? Is that why soap operas so popular? I always wondered how some people could watch a made up TV show and act as if it was real. Boy, talk about not having a life, those people really don’t.

Pain of belief

Just posted  at blogher and got to thinking about what I had to say about christian hypocrisies and a person I knew many years ago who went to therapy because she had big problems with her faith and what she felt and wanted to do. Now this young woman was brought up as a Catholic and believed all of the things she felt and wanted to do would condemn her to Hell. The world in the late 60’s and early 70’s was the time of hippies and free love and free thought, time to question everything there was about the life we were living. She wanted to be free to partake of this new world, but she felt so bad every time she did that it was driving her crazy with guilt. I always thought one was supposed to feel good about believing in a god, but here was just one case where belief caused pain. I know there are many more people like her out there in the world, for I have met many, shall we call them ex-catholics, who gave up that belief system for one reason or another. Most did not stop believing in a god, just the one the Catholics were pushing. I am glad to say that I keep hearing little tidbits that the Catholic Church is starting to open up its thought pattern about the world.

I just had a thought on the pain of belief. I knew my mother for 40 years and I never knew what she believed about god or gods, the subject never came up that I can remember. But when I joined the Navy at 17 and she had to sign the papers saying I could, she put down that my religion was one of the christian faiths. I do not remember which one, but I did ask her why she did that. She said that it just seemed like a good idea so no one would bother me about our lack of religion. I guess she did not want me to feel any pain of religion by not having any. Strange that while in boot-camp, going to religious services was mandatory for all. I wonder if I had had no religion on my papers if I could have gotten out of it? As it was, by taking the watch for others who wanted to go, I only had to go twice in the 3 months I was there. Odd as to why I remember that. I guess my personality disorder was active then and (hell it was from birth really) getting out of having to something I did not want to do meant something to me.

I do not know what happened with the young woman I was talking about, I hope she resolved her problems and lived a happy life one way or another. But I brought it up to show that having faith in the fairytale of god and gods is not always a good thing for some people.

Church

When I was 5 years old,I went to church for the first time with some neighbors children. I sat though the long sermon and then went to the Sunday school with my friends. When I left that day,  I knew it was all a big lie. A story made up but didn’t know why it so, I just knew it was. Now some 56 years later I am trying to tell people the reasons why I do not believe the story. And I did spend many years checking out this religious thing that people have. With the information available out there in the world, I am amazed that anyone still believes in any religion what so ever. We might as well still be believing that the world is flat. And yet every Sunday people still go to the church of their choice and keep believing in the same old story. I just keep wondering why? Just what proof do people need to see the truth of the world? How hard can it be to turn ones mind on? I guess believers are like children who hide their eyes and believe they can not be seen just because they can’t see others that way.

Sad state of affairs if you ask me. Every year people teach their young children to believe in a fairytale and most likely tell them they will go to Hell if they do not believe. And they must believe as the parents do, not as others do. We keep teaching our young hate, fear, prejudice, and so many bad things about people who do not believe as we do, do not live as we do, who do not think like we do or look like we do. And by WE  I mean each and every group out there in the world who has a belief system that says they are the chosen or best people for whatever reason they pick. And the saddest part of it to me is that main religions in the world all come from the same place, which says we all started from just two people, so we are cousins, all equal, all the same. Yet why does this not seem to matter any more? Did god some how split into many different gods? With the amount of different religions and sects within those religions, it would seem that was what happened. Have got to wonder just what Christ and Mohammed would think about the churchs that carry on their teachings in this day and age. I think they would not be happy with what is going on.

I have read the Koran and what I see happening with the Muslims is not what I thought the Koran said to be doing. I am talking about the jihad types, not the others. I have read the the New Testament and have to wonder just where and when did Christians leave the path he taught? Why is it that with evey good thing that comes along and then gets a following, the leaders always change it to suit their own needs and ideas? Once many years ago I was into yoga and sort of followed a yogie fellow. He was dead by the time I started to learn his ideas, but was going to seminars taught by his group of followers. I noticed that all of the followers in his group had suits on under their orange robes, not giving up the worldly possions is what I saw. The yogie also taught his ideas for free, yet here Iwas having to pay to learn, and if I wanted the real inside stuff, I couldn’t learn it unless I paid through the nose for it. It was as I call it now, enlightenment through money, of, no payee, no learnee. I won’t call this group a church, but it is not really any different. if you want to move up in your church, just pay out your money and you will rise. Money, the root of all evil, yet every church asks you for some, give till it hurts I have heard said. Why would a god need money? Gods do not, only churches do.

A gods joke?

Well today I wonder about the difference between men and women and their sexual peaks. If a male is over at 18 or so as they say and woman doesn’t hit hers until after 30, then in this christian world the sexes are screwed. We can’t be having older women doing the young men, nor is it allowed for older men to be with young women, this is our code from the christian world. So god must have be having a real laugh at the frustration of humans trying to enjoy themselves. Now if we went by the nature of life the way it seems it was meant to be, we would have the older experienced women teaching the young men how to be good lovers, and when they pass their peak they would know how to teach the young women to be good lovers so when they get older the cycle continues. Sounds like a win, win situation for both men and women.

Now I am not saying we should be doing this, I am just wondering why it works the way it does. After all once upon a time most men died very young and the women out lived them. Maybe nature made the sex drives to match that. If all things in nature have a reason, there has to be one for the different sexual peaks in humans. If a god made us to be like this, then why are going against the nature god gave us? So many questions about the way we live our lives and the way nature made us to be.

Here is a thought for you all. Mankind  is a part of the animal kingdom, males in the animal kingdom live for almost just one purpose, to have sex with females and continue the species. That is the real job of males in this world. So is it any wonder that human males are always trying to mate with every female they can? They are just following the plan nature made for them. Females in the animal kingdom quite often mate with different males just to insure that when a new male leader comes along he wont kill her young, because he wont know if the young are his or not. Smart thing for females if you ask me. After all for the most part, it is the female who raises the young of their kind.

Back to men going after all the females he can. This is such a simple answer as to why men act as they do. It would be nice if women understood this and not always asking why do they do it. Not saying this the way it ought to be, just giving one reason why it is so. The need to procreate is what drives the world we live in, from the single celled creatures all the way up the food chain to us as humans. And seeing how god or nature made human females always ready to have children and not be seasonal like lots of other animals, the male is always ready to do his best for mankind and try to continue the species. Besides the more children he spreads around, the better the chance that humans will survive. Nature again making that rule or god did, at least in the rest of the animal kingdom it is the rule.

Another thought along this line, I once read where someone once decided that the reason women have boobs and asses that  stick out is so men could see them from a distance and know what they were. After all men are visual creatures, they tend to want what they see and the women were made to get their attention. Of course if the female came first, (the nipple thing from my other post), then men were made so they would attracted to the way the female was built. That idea I read about put forth the idea that females with big boobs and asses got more males than ones without them, and so these are the genes that got passed on that made it. Sounds good to me, True? I do not know. But it does make sense. Remember folks, truth is stranger than fiction.

Men and Women

Ever wonder why men have nipples? What use are they? Got to think that once upon a time there was just one sex and that sex was female. During the evolution of mammals, I guess it needed another sex to make it a viable life form. So if you start with the female and change it ever so slightly you get the male. Seems likely to me that it happened this way. No I have done no research on this, it is just a thought I had on why men have nipples.

Body hair, oh boy that is a fun thing, not! At least from where I am at. Why do I need to be growing hair on my ears? Why do I need to be growing what could become a second mustache out of my nose?  Hair growing on my nose, come on. My facial hair seems to be growing together all over my face, at this rate by the time reach 90 (if I do) I will lose my face behind the hair. And why do older women need to start growing mustaches and beards? Sorry thing for the fair sex to have to put up with. This is part of a gods plan for human kind? Mean joke if you ask me.  Why cause men to start turning into women and women into men?

Well I guess if all started out as one sex, it makes sense that if we live long enough, we sort of go back to being that one sex at death. If a god made a man first, what was the point of the nipple on him first? Just what was he going to do with them? Sorry keep slipping back into god and gods all of the time, but it does permeate all parts of our life and keeps getting in the way learning what life is all about. Got wonder just how much about the world we might know by now if religion hadn’t kept us in the dark for so long. If it still wasn’t trying to keep us in the dark now.

Borders

Just what is a border? For some it is the imaginary line that separates countries. I say imaginary because there is nothing there to show where one country starts and another one ends. Yet we seem to believe that by being one side or the other of these imaginary lines that we are better than those on the other side of it. Unless you live on and island which does have a real border around it you are living in imaginary countries. Sure the world has agreed on where these imaginary lines are, but at what price were these borders made. And just why would one think by living in of these imaginary countries that they are better than the ones on the other side of the line? I guess it all goes back to people thinking that they alone are the chosen ones of the imaginary god they made up and therefore are the best there is.

Has always seemed strange to me that this concept goes all the way down to the streets we live on. My block is better than your block. The end results being the gangs we have all over the country thinking that their street gang is better than the one one on the next block and being willing to kill to prove it. What little minds humans have. Grown up human-beings acting like little children, when will it all end? I do blame religion for this happening in the world. After all if your god says you are the chosen people you are going to let the other people know that you are better than they are and you alone are right so everything the others do is wrong and bad. And you say this to the others who believe the same thing about themselves, just what is going to happen? Just like children they start to fight to prove who is really the best. Each believing that their god will favor them and of course the winner is always right for might makes right. If I beat you then I must be better, what a thought. Like playing king of the hill, who ever ends up on top is the winner.

Think about America. All men are created equal, right sure they are! It took this country a long time to try and make that statement true and even then it was not put into practice. To this day we still have the problem of men being equal, even with the president we now have in office, all men are not being treated as equals. All men are equal, but what about women? How long did it take for them to get the right to vote and have they ever gotten fair pay for the same work men do? Sure we passed a law to make it so, but law and practice are not the same thing. Even here we have made borders between things. And why you might ask? Well back to that imaginary god again. Yup lets see how that went, god made Adam, so man is first and most important. A note here, in the Holy Bible I happen to have in front of me it does not say that Eve was made from the rib of Adam, though this the story I grew up hearing, makes you wonder just what is the true religion when it changes with each sect making up the story as they want it be. Well going on with the rib story, we have woman be a lesser part of the story, an after thought even. As I remember the story, god saw that Adam was lonely and god decide that Adam needed a mate, gee guess watching all the animals in the world having one, I would want one too. After all what was the point of have a male sex organ if Adam had no one to use it with? Of course woman being less than man, it would have to the female who ate of the so called apple, after all a man wouldn’t do any wrong unless he was tempted by a woman, would he? Here’s a thought for you, god didn’t give us brains to really think with, it was Eve. Eve gave us knowledge, not god. Why would a god not want his children to know things?  What border was god afraid of that humans should know things? Without knowledge, mankind would have been no better than the rest of the animal kingdom.

So the god of our story starts us out with the I am better than you idea. His creations just keep up the idea, causing the first murder to happen, Cain killing Able so Able couldn’t be better than him or more favored. If the old testament is to believed, I am not sure being the chosen of god was a good thing. All the suffering the Jews went through as the chosen people just doesn’t seem to fair to me for a chosen people. So where and when did the idea of being better than others really come into practice? One just has to look at all of the religions starting points, there you will find that each of them sort of all say that their god created them first as the chosen ones. And I do mean all religions, even going back in time to the ones not in use today. Again I ask just why does mankind think they are so special? Why did they think the world was made for them? Why would mankind in this day and age still believe what they do about the gods?

When mankind grows up, borders will no longer be needed. No imaginary lines will be needed to separate us from each other. We need to get rid of the gods, get rid of the borders. One nation under god? What god is that? Whose god is that? Which god should we choose? Can’t have equality until that issue is resolved and the only real solution is no god at all. Can’t fight over what doesn’t exist, can we? When people realize that where they live is not really any better than any other place, we just might stop thinking our place is better and fighting to prove it. But having people who refuse to see the truth of the world will always hold us back from being able to grow up. The thought of me being better than you goes into almost every facet of our lives, rich people are better than poor people, upland people are better than lowland people, tall people are better than short people, jocks are better than (todays term) nerds. Strange that last one is, saying that having brains to think with is not cool, just another way of people wanting to keep from using their brains and think! Why is the world afraid of thinking and growing? Because the children are afraid of pissing off their so called Father of a god! I have to ask, what was the point of giving mankind the big brain to use if it was not meant to be used? Did the gods want to keep people ignorant just so they could on top? Just like so many leaders of this world do. World leaders have always wanted to keep the people ignorant of what is really happening, because when the people find out the truth, the leaders lose their jobs. Just look at your news and you see it happening everyday.

So lets grow up people and put and end to all of these borders we have. Or are you afraid to cross those borders?

Hell?

Just when did god create hell? It was not in the beginning, just heaven and the earth were according to Genesis. Just where was god if there was no heaven? After all we are taught that is where god is, so again where was god before he has a place to call home? And why does there have to be place we call hell? God wasn’t good enough in creating all his things and needed a place to put the rejects? Satan, I am guessing that god made the angels or were they the other gods god was jealous of? Any how if god made the angels, how come his best creations or his first I guess rebelled against him? Seems god made a mistake here, the people he created also seem to keep rebelling, another mistake, guess we do need a hell to put these rejects in, there are so many of them. Of course regarding the people sent to hell, just how many is god sending as opposed to how many are sent by each different sect of gods religions. After all I believe my way and of course I am right so you all are going to hell if you disagree, right? Guess we are all going to hell, after all we are all right so all others are wrong and god will punish all wrong thinkers. What arrogance mankind has why must every group think they are the best there is? Why would any group be better than any other? If a god made us all, then all are equal and the same. Is that not what is meant by all are equal in the eyes of god? If all are equal then all are going some sort of hell, for no person is perfect. Most of the ideas of hell come from Dante book, people just love to believe the worst without ever checking the facts of truth. Judge not least you be judged, which is what people do all the time, never really thinking of what may or may not be true. So more people for the hell they believe in. Would a truly loving and forgiving god really send his people to such a place? Just because there are people who mistreat children, must the god and gods we made up do the same? I once asked religious leader to show me just where the story of devil was in the bible, he wouldn’t or couldn’t do it, I have always wondered why? Guess he didn’t want his belief questioned. Lost a girl friend once because I didn’t believe in her god, yet she knew nothing about the Bible and what was really in it, she was one of those who believe without knowing why and never questioned the idea at all.

So which came first, Hell or Satan? If Satan was a good angel in the beginning, there was no need for a Hell. If the all knowing god new Satan was going to rebel and had Hell waiting, well why wait, just create hell with Satan already in it. But then why create evil at all? But god created man in “OUR image, after OUR likeness” which tells me that there are more than one god around, which also makes one think that the gods were also good and evil to start with. “Behold the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil”, Us, again gods are mentioned. Gods knowing good and evil, why would gods  need to be good or evil? Makes the gods sound like they are just normal people after all, gee maybe that’s why the gods were made in mans image, cause they were made up by mankind. The arrogant people who think they are the best thing on this world, the ones who thought the whole universe was made just for them. The ones who believed the Sun revolved around the Earth, the Earth their god made just for them. And these people are the ones who thought the earth was flat and would punish any who said different, are the ones we still choose to believe when the idea of a god is being taught.  Maybe we need that Hell after all, for we need a place to put the children who refuse to grow up and learn the truth of the world.
