DISJOINTED MELODY

Words are slow in coming on
This night.
Emotions are numb after
Their last assault.
Feelings too are dead as causes
Go by unheard.
Zombie like I function in the
Day to day world.
No thoughts are working
Toward goals.
They are but a disjointed
Melody.
An old saying of mine comes
To mind though.
If they don’t want you,
Then they are not worth
Having or worrying about,
Forget it.
I must now do as I say.
You do not want me,
Then you are not worth
Having or worrying about,
I must forget it.
The one who leaves,
Is not the one.
No matter how desirable
The unhaveable maybe.
For they are poison to
The soul and are only
Fuel for the poets pen.
I wish no more a poet
To be.
